About Me

Director BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy

I’m a paediatric OT specialising in Sensory Integration. I have experience working with children of all ages, however I’m especially passionate about early intervention. My interest is in early intervention for children with ASD, Global Developmental Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and Childhood Dyspraxia.

Why I chose Paediatric Occupational Therapy

I realised when I was at school that sitting at a desk all day wasn’t for me! Now working in my field I have realised this is related to my sensory and postural systems.

When reading through university allied health courses I came across this degree called Occupational Therapy. The description seemed to include key qualities that I valued – working in health, helping people and flexibility. Enjoying and feeling most confident in my paediatric experiences during university I applied for graduate position in Singapore to work in children.

My Experience

Beginning my journey in Singapore provided me the opportunity to gain experience in early intervention for children with complex needs in schools and clinics. This is when I began my journey in Sensory Integration, receiving amazing mentorship by my supervisor who was a SI clinician. Returning to Australia, I continued my mentorship in Sensory Integration working in a private paediatric clinic in Brisbane QLD. Both of these roles allowed me to complete co-therapy and training with experienced SI clinicians while completing my SI certification.

In Brisbane, I have worked in private services in clinic, school-based (clinic) and mobile services. My interest, and primary experience includes early intervention for children 0-6 who have a diagnosis of GDD or ASD.

Why I established North Coast Kids OT

My partner and I developed a vision to relocate to the North Coast soon after we met. He was born in Grafton and I quickly fell in love with the region during each visit to his family farm. There is a shortage for therapeutic services in regional areas. My vision is to provide each child access to early intervention to enable confident, sensory regulated children and supported families.
