Looking for a paediatric Speech Pathologist?

North Coast Kids deliver Speech Pathology Allied Health Assistant (AHA) services in Grafton and Woolgoolga. These services are delivered by our Speech Pathologist AHA who works under direction of a Speech Pathologist.

Our Speech Pathology AHA work under direction of a Speech Pathologist to deliver an intervention program. The Speech Pathologist supports our AHA over telehealth to complete the assessment, develop the intervention program and monitor the therapy plan & outcomes. The Speech Pathologist has regular contact with the AHA who is delivering the intervention. Our intervention programs are updated during regular meetings and our AHA will keep in contact with the caregiver to communicate the treatment plan. A review or consultation with the caregiver can be requested at any time.

Paediatric speech pathology helps children who have delays or difficulties in understanding and communicating with others. Our speech pathology AHA sessions are strength based and play based to support your child to be excited to engage in therapy sessions. Our Speech Pathology AHA’s can support your child with:

  • Speech and articulation
  • Expressive and receptive language
  • Literacy skills
  • Social communication

What does the initial assessment include?

  • Caregiver consult with the Speech Pathologist (and our AHA if suitable) over telehealth to understand your concerns, your child’s history and determine the areas that require assessment.
  • Direct assessment with the Speech Pathologist over telehealth and our AHA supporting the activities in our clinic. This assessment involves a combination of play-based observations and standardised/semi-structured assessments to evaluate the areas of concern.
  • Caregiver consult with the Speech Pathologist (and our AHA if suitable) over telehealth to provide feedback on the assessment and collaboratively set goals for intervention.

Clinic Therapy Sessions

Clinic therapy sessions allow a therapy session to be . Therapy sessions are child-led and play-based which involves following the child’s interests and using play to target therapy goals. Therapy sessions aim to facilitate a child’s speech and communication goals while playing and engaging in activities they enjoy.

School & Day Care Visits

School visits can be arranged if this is suitable for your child. They usually are completed within the classroom during play. We arrange these visits with the centre to ensure the time and session works for the session outcomes and their timetable.
